Maryvale Pyrolysis Plant
ideas* were recently engaged by Renewed Carbon to assist with the development of an innovative waste reduction facility for Australian Paper.
Using a process called pyrolysis the facility will help Australian Paper significantly reduce waste at their Maryvale Paper Mill.
Pyrolysis involves thermochemical decomposition of organic material at elevated temperatures in the absence of oxygen and typically occurs under pressure and at operating temperatures above
430 °C (800 °F).
The facility will convert sludges and woodyard waste into a by-product called biochar, which can be used as a highly effective soil conditioner, which improve soil texture and ecology.
The innovative facility is expected to attract wide spread interest from companies looking to minimise waste that would otherwise go to landfill.
